Felt Flamingo by Maria Anderson-Contreras
PictureMaria modelling said flamingo
I was at work the other day talking to my most gorgeous colleagues whom I just love so much. And we got talking about our favourite animals. Well well well let me just tell you how much I LOVE and adore and have always since the beginning of time loved pandas! Because aside from having had a gazillion former lifetimes in China I can't think of a cuter and more adorable animal...
Well I can but just for now, I said pandas and if you look on my bed you will see plenty of evidence...

So my lovely colleague who is a total angel of creative joy (she is a fabulous artist) told me of her love for flamingos...
No! She was locking up and her key-ring was like a Christmas tree with 3 really big teddy flamingos - that was it and I obviously commented, "so you like flamingos then?" And she said "yeeeeeees!"

Right - so the story starts here, in my head I'm already designing her a cute little flamingo that she can wear about her person whenever she wants and when I got home I stalked Google images and got some ideas. Then I thought, why not do a free felt flamingo tutorial for you my gorgeous dollies so that you can also learn to make animals as pets for your dolls? Because I don't know about your dolls but mine are very demanding (they're just like the children I never had) and always want this that and the other and don't stop asking until I get them said pet, sweets, toys etc. You know the score. So this keeps me busy and that's okay because I love it.
So here you have it, free pattern for you to scale up or down as you wish. I did it this big as you can see it on the side of my head! You can make it into a brooch or a hair clip. I did both...

Super easy free felt flamingo pattern and tutorial!

Picture
1. Print or trace these 2 pattern pieces cut out your felt. Resize as desired
>> Download felt flamingo pattern pdf here

2. Sew around the felt pieces in blanket stitch (looks neater)
Picture
3. Stuff the wing with a small bit of stuffing and the main body with more on the base then finish sewing to complete
Picture
4. Make some legs by platting or crochet chain some ribbon and wool or whatever pink threads you may find
Picture
5. Create feet and knees by making knots and stitch the legs in as you sew around
Picture
6. Paint white background first with acrylic paint then the black mouth and eye (I put a little eyelash for cute factor here)

7. Sew the wing on and a brooch or hair clip back and you're good to go! Enjoy pinkness :)
Well dollies I hope you enjoyed making your felt flamingo because let's face it, the world needs more felt flamingos. Look out for more animal tutorials to enhance and enrich the joyful lives of the cloth dolls...

Did you know that the divine feminine expression is creativity?

Keeeeeep creating!

PS I've been getting lots of enquiries about how to do the pipe cleaner inside the dolls so as to articulate the limbs. Good question! I'll do a video about it next. Easier to physically show you.

Wait! What about meeeeee? Make one of me! I'm super cute and you'll love me forever...

PS Have you ever made a cloth doll? It's the most super amazing fun I've ever had - why not try to make your first ever best cloth friend ever? Watch this video and if it gets your creative juices flowing (like a nice hot double espresso does for me) then have a go and make someone you love a gorgeous doll that they'll treasure forever... (I'm such a romantic, I can't help it!

>> Enough already - okay I'll do it! Take me there!
